Darlene Hancock started working at Calvary in 2010 doing relief work in the boys cottage for Brian and Melita Busby. Darlene had long been connected to the young people at Calvary because of her work with the youth department at our home church, Calvary Baptist in Powder Springs. She teaches Sunday School to middle school girls, teaches a youth class on Wednesday nights and coordinates the youth group’s trips and activities with the youth pastor. She loves working with young people and feels a strong burden for our future generations. Darlene accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 11 years as a result of a bus ministry visitation and grew up in a home with a father that was "in and out" of the family unit regularly so she has a heart for hurting children and for youth ministry. Darlene was married for 32 ½ years until she lost her husband in January 2012 to cancer. In April, 2012, Darlene came on as full time staff as primary houseparent in the girl's cottage. She has two grown children, Rhett, a 27 year old son and a 22 year old daughter, Taylor. Darlene considers it a privilege to be working in this ministry as a houseparent.
"God has given me a burden for young people. I see them as having been targeted by Satan to destroy their lives. My goal is help young people "fall in love with the Lord" and to lead them to becoming "sold out" to Him!
